What Are the Benefits of Mineral Sunscreen?
BROAD SPECTRUM UVA/UVB PROTECTION
Using a mineral sunscreen that is labeled Broad Spectrum is critical to protecting your skin from BOTH forms of UV light that can harm your skin, and that can lead to skin cancer. An SPF sunscreen that is NOT BROAD SPECTRUM only protects you from UVB rays, and leaves you exposed to the harmful effects of UVA Rays (such as premature aging, wrinkles, and dark spots). A zinc based mineral sunscreen provides Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection.
CHEMICAL SUNSCREEN INGREDIENTS OF CONCERN
Consumers should be aware of the dangers of chemical sunscreen ingredients. Common ingredients of concern include Oxybenzone, Homosalate, and Octinoxate. Oxybenzone has been associated with developmental and reproductive toxicity, allergies and immunotoxicity, all of which is of greater concern because it also enhances skin absorption. Homosalate is used as a sunscreen agent to absorb UV light.
Chemical Sunscreens often contain ingredients that are not only harmful to humans, but not surprisingly to aquatic life and coral reefs. Many countries around the world and some cities have banned chemical sunscreens containing a list of common chemical sun filters in order to prevent further damage to precious reefs and marine life.
What is the LASPA Intensive Glycolic Acid Peel?
LASPA INTENSIVE GLYCOLIC ACID PEEL is a highly potent, unique and natural 10% or 30% glycolic formulation that is pleasant to apply and offers superior results. With an optimal pH of 3.5, it effectively and safely removes the dead layer of keratinized cells to speed up cell turnover and reveal a younger, more vitalized skin surface.
What is Skin Cell Turnover?
As we age the dermal matrix becomes thicker and the rate of cell turnover slows down significantly leaving the typical signs of aging: dullness, dehydration, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Exfoliating peels using Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) have been proven effective in increasing cell turnover and addressing these common signs of aging.
What is a Natural Glycolic Acid?
Glycolic acid is the most studied and effective AHA for use as a cosmetic exfoliant. Its gentle and proven anti-aging properties are suitable for all skin types. Glycolic acid is the smallest of the AHAs and considered the strongest due to its low pka value. Size and strength are relevant because it is the AHA best able to penetrate the top layers of the skin.
